PROMOTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF QUALITY AGRO INPUTS IN THE CHARS (2015)

NAAFCO Group signed an agreement with Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) project to support promotion and distribution of quality agro-inputs in the northern char markets covering ten districts.

NAAFCO Group signed an agreement with Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) project to support promotion and distribution of quality agro-inputs in the northern char markets covering ten districts.

Encouraged by the response received in the last two years, NAAFCO Group will undertake large number of trade and consumer marketing activities this year. This will strengthen their distribution to remote char markets and create awareness among farmers on use and benefits of quality agro-inputs. The activities are aimed at generating higher income for char farmers, who lack access to quality agro-inputs and appropriate cultivation knowledge. M.M. Shammi Huda, Director of NAAFCO Group and Fouzia Nasreen, General Manager of M4C project signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at Swisscontact office in the city. Saiful Huda, Director of NAAFCO Group, Subrata Kumar, Market Development Director of M4C project and other officials from both organisations were present at the signing ceremony. NAAFCO Group markets quality mixed fertiliser, micronutrients and crop protection solutions imported from renowned manufacturers through an extensive distribution network spread across the country. They have been in operation for nearly three decades, and are gradually expanding into seeds, agrovet, aquaculture, and pharmaceuticals business. Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) is a five-year project that facilitates changes in the market system to improve income of poor households in northern chars. It is mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and implemented by Swisscontact and Practical Action in collaboration with Rural Development Academy, Bogra.
